The BE-4 Engine

Blue Origin is working to enable millions of people to live and work in space. For its heavy-lift reusable rocket, they needed a powerful, efficient engine. The answer was the Blue Engine-4 (BE-4). Burning liquid methane (CH4) and liquid oxygen (LOX) in an oxygen-rich staged combustion cycle, each BE-4 produces 290 tons of thrust. Seven BE-4 engines power Blue Origin’s New Glenn booster, while two engines fly on ULA’s Vulcan rocket advancing the next era of reusable heavy-lift launch.
